Welcome to Weightshrinkers.com Imagine. Just imagine. Close your eyes for a moment and form a picture in your mind of your ideal body shape – slimmer, healthier and more energetic. Imagine feeling good about yourself, feeling self confident and sexy. This needn’t be just a dream. It is the goal we have set for members of our online community of people who would like to shed unwanted weight permanently, rather than through yo-yo dieting and all manners of weight loss programmes they have had in the past. Welcome to Weightshrinkers. Are you overweight? How do you know that you are overweight? The fact is that a number of factors determine our weight. Therefore there is no exact ideal weight that applies to every individual, neither is there a magic weight for everybody because there is a range of healthy body weights within which your own healthy weight falls. Maintaining a healthy weight is a very important part of overall good health. Keeping your weight within the healthy range not only makes you feel better, but it will significantly reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer. There are a number of ways you can fairly accurately check if you are within a healthy weight range. Looking at yourself in the mirror is not one of them, neither is comparing yourself with other people because it’s easy to underestimate or overestimate your own weight that way. An objective assessment of your size can be made through a number of methods. Body mass index You can check your body size using the body mass index (BMI), which assesses your weight in relation to your height. Doctors and other healthcare professionals use BMI to determine whether a person is overweight or clinically obese. Waist circumference Another method of assessing whether you are a healthy weight is to measure your waist. This gives an indication of how much fat is stored around your middle. Excess fat in this area increases your risk of heart disease and diabetes. Body fat You can measure the amount of fat in your body using scales designed for this purpose. Lean tissue, such as muscle, and blood contain water and act as conductors of electrical signal, while fat resists it. Body fat is only one aspect of health. Additional measurements include blood pressure, resting heart rate, blood cholesterol, and fat and glucose tests. Your GP can advise you if these measures are necessary. The good news is that you can achieve and maintain a healthy weight and help reduce the risk of obesity related health problems by cultivating healthy eating habits and taking more exercises. This website, Weightshrinkers, is dedicated to helping all those who have tried everything else - dieting, weight loss pills, boring gym exercises, starving, etcetera.
